Tired skin is a model’s enemy. Even if you can always fake a youthful glow or cover problem areas with makeup, it’s always best for your skin to be at its tip-top shape. Nobody likes a model who looks so tired and stressed all the time! It’s never fun to cake up on makeup just so your problem areas can be covered like there’s no tomorrow. Natural and effortless is the key here. I know, that’s inevitable. Especially if you haven’t been sleeping well lately or you’re simply just tired from the hustle of your everyday life as a model. Castings here and there, shoots and fittings from one place to another– it can really take a toll on your skin’s health.
The good news is, there’s nothing a little TLC can’t take care of. Even your skin can start looking rejuvenated by following the steps below:
Exfoliate
This step is important. Old or dead skin cells can pile up on the surface of your skin and it can cause roughness, dryness and dull looking skin. It can even lead to excess oil and the clogging of your pores resulting in acne and blemishes. Exfoliating removes the dead skin cells on the topmost layer of your skin, revealing fresh cells underneath. It can even help your succeeding skincare products to penetrate the skin easier and making it more effective. Most people exfoliate once a week and others up to twice a week maximum. Remember not to over exfoliate!
You may also want to cater your exfoliation technique depending on the health and sensitivity of your skin. You may want to choose an exfoliating method carefully if you have sensitive skin or acne-prone skin. If you’re going to use an exfoliating scrub, you should always choose one with smooth and round granules rather than those that have rough particles and too abrasive ones. Remember to be gentle with scrubbing, you only need a light hand in sloughing off the dead skin cells!
Mask
This step is a lazy woman’s dream. Most masks have an all-in-one effect of a serum, essence, a moisturizer, and a cream. However, if you’re feeling a little extra or you think your skin needs more tender loving care, you can use a face mask after cleansing your face or even after exfoliation. Exfoliating can cause your skin to dry up and all you have to do is counter that with something that’s moisturizing and soothing. There are different types of face masks in the market, depending on what your skin needs. It can range from acne-treatments, hydrating, collagen boosts, brightening and a lot more. If you’re not into that, Urbanette has some DIY face masks from the kitchen that’s all natural but promising.
Night Cream
Your skin absorbs active ingredients better at night time than it does during the day. Your skin also regenerates at night while you’re sleeping. With that in mind, night creams are essential to your skin routine because it can help repair damaged skin and help it look more rejuvenated the next day. Some night creams are so potent that it can have immediate effects and you can see a difference overnight.
However, night creams aren’t created equally. Make sure to choose a formula that’s suited for your skin type, a non-comedogenic one would be good and for those who have sensitive skin, opt for the fragrance-free and hypoallergenic ones. You may also want to look for the following ingredients: Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, Aloe Vera, Honey, Shea Butter, Retinol, AHAs, amino acids, collagen, antioxidants and other anti-aging components.
Facial Mist
This is such a handy skincare that you can take almost anywhere. Just a quick spritz can instantly hydrate your skin and refresh it. Some may think that this is unnecessary, because how can a mist of water that makes your face all dewy and healthy make such a difference? The answer is already in that sentence. It makes your face look hydrated, dewy and healthy. It can be a mid-day pick-me-up for your skin if you think your skin needs a little help and you’re nowhere near the end of the day. It’s such an easy way to keep your skin looking good without the hassle of bringing tubs or jars of skincare products and slathering them all on your face. If your makeup has a powdery finish and you want to have baby smooth skin, just spritz your favorite facial mist and in just a few seconds, your skin now looks naturally beautiful without the powdery look. If you forgot your moisturizer, you can also spritz this all over your face before applying your makeup. A facial spray can hit two birds with one stone. If that isn’t good enough for you, then I don’t know what is.
Sleep
It’s a normal thing to do but we usually take sleep for granted. Sleep deprivation can really take a toll on your health and your skin condition. Lack of sleep is the hardest to cure because there’s no alternative way to reap its benefits. Whenever possible, always try to sleep at least 8-10 hours every day.
