Us models are sometimes required to travel to another place for a shoot. While traveling sounds like a perfect thing even if it’s for work purposes, packing your suitcase could sometimes be a tedious task. I travel a lot as well, so I’m here to help you if you’re one of those people who hasn’t figured out their very own travel essentials.

Before I list down the things that you need to take with you in your suitcase, keep in mind that if you’re traveling to a place that has weather ranging from sunny to extremely cold, you might want to check the temperatures on the area first before you decide on your off-duty OOTDs. You don’t want to end up wearing very little protection for the cold when it’s a negative outside, or you don’t want to be bringing heat-tech clothes when it’s scorching hot outside. I highly suggest using the weather app to do that instead of relying on asking a friend about the weather. You have to remember that people have a different tolerance for hot and cold weathers and what’s too cold for you may just feel like a summer breeze to them.
Cherry Pick Options
You can’t bring your entire closet with you, so pick outfits that you can mix and match and will come a little unnoticed if you repeat it. In my experience, denim shorts or pants are the best options for this. You can just bring one pair and use it up to 3 times and just jazz it up with a new top every time.
Another thing is that you might want to color coordinate your options with the shoes you’re going to bring with you. If you’re wearing shoes that only look good on certain colors of clothes, make sure that you keep that in mind. It’s better to bring 1-2 pairs of shoes that will look good in all the outfits that you’ve brought with you to save space. Personally, I think it’s much better to leave more space for clothes!
My essentials? I always pack jeans and one other pair of trousers—either white denim or leather—and then T-shirts, a pair of boots, a pair of sneakers, a sweater and a jacket. – Gigi Hadid
Instagram Worthy
Do your research. Search the destination and (if you have free-time), try to find nearby locations or scenic spots that are Instagram worthy. This can look good on your social media presence and a possible great aesthetic for your feed. (We all know how people love that on Insta!) It’s good to pack clothes that have colors depending on the vibe of the place. If it’s colorful and vibrant, you might want to pack white pieces or equally bright colored ones. If it’s more of a saturated vibe, it’s either you can be the pop of color or you simply blend in with whites and blacks.
Beauty Essentials
Don’t ever forget your travel-sized beauty essentials when you travel. In my experience, when I go overseas, my skin becomes drier than ever no matter how similar the weather is from where I’m from. Traveling gives my skin a lot of stress and dry patches aren’t good especially when the purpose of the travel is to work. If you have a 10-step routine at home, it’s fine if you don’t take it all with you. Just make sure that you always take the travel essentials. Makeup remover, facial wash, moisturizer, sunscreen, lip balm and facial mist for added hydration. While this doesn’t seem like a simple list, I find that my skin adjusts better when I have all of those with me whenever I travel.
Aside from these skincare products, let me remind you that you also don’t have to bring all 50 shades of lipstick from your vanity at home. You can bring one nude and one bold shade and you’re good to go. This goes with your base as well, a tinted moisturizer and a good coverage foundation are already enough. If every little space in your makeup bag matters, you can ditch the foundation all in all and just bring a concealer with you. I’m 100% sure that it has a smaller container and won’t take up much space. If you have makeup products that are multifunctional, such as an eyeshadow palette that can be used for your brows, contours and bronzing, bring that instead.
I only carry on. I’ve become an expert packer, and I’ve also learned how to downsize my beauty bag, so that’s made a huge difference. – Lindsay Ellingson
Pack your things beforehand so you can carefully plan everything that you’re going to bring. Last minute packing can always lead to accidentally forgetting important items and bringing unimportant ones. Remember: If it’s a multi-function one, pack it up.
