“I feel most comfortable showing my body, rather than hiding it– whether in form-fitting dress or in a bathing suit. I finally now feel comfortable at 52.” – Brooke Shields
Brooke Shields, now at 52 is one of the stars for an ad campaign for a body-positive swimsuit brand called Swimsuits for all. The latest campaign is titled “Power Suit” and it taps a group of women aging from 30 to 67 years old. The brand has a Power Squad that consists of timelessly beautiful ladies namely Ashley Graham, Angela Simmons, Pat Gallant-Charette, Katie Duke, and Brooke Shields. If that isn’t your powerhouse type of campaign, I don’t know what is.
Brooke Shields is a mom of two and says that she is now confident in her own skin and says, “I finally feel comfortable and proud of all the hard work I’ve put into my body.” Her toned physique comes from an active lifestyle, no crash diets or pressure-filled workouts. It’s all about consistent hard work.
“It’s all about balance. There’s no set way to be healthy and fit, it really is finding what works for you,” she said. “I always try to drink a lot of water, get a good night’s sleep and maintain a healthy and active lifestyle.”
This lady has been a “Pretty Baby” ever since, according to her bio which also states that she’s been modeling since she’s just 11 months old. With that pressure under the lights at such a young age, she grew up under scrutiny that always made her feel insecure about her looks. Hollywood is probably twice the pressure with all the roles she’s taken and the constant bombardment of beauty standards in the spotlight. She even claims to feel disconnected to her own body and that it took her years to separate the opinions of others from her own. Now that she’s 52, it’s only now that she’s embracing her body.
Brooke Shields shared that when she was younger, she never really loved being in a swimsuit because she picked apart the way she looked at them. She would find ways to cover up, yet here she is confidently loving how her body looks in a red bikini.
The “Power Suit” campaign’s purpose is to empower all women to feel confident about themselves, even if it’s in a swimsuit. There’s nothing wrong with loving how your body is, no matter what age or size it is. These women are amazing role models of glamour and beauty that would exist timelessly. Hopefully, we can all inspire one another in being confident about our own bodies, no matter what.
