Plus size models aren’t just anyone. Models are chosen specifically for a certain look and their size must be within a healthy looking size. It is also highly recommended that the model exercises regularly. It is also crucial for the plus-size model to look happy and confident about his/her body. You have to work really hard in order to prove that you are healthy regardless of weight and that you are naturally big boned.
The general size that agents look for is mostly from size 12 to 16. Find reputable agencies who look for plus-size modeling, then do your thing. Keep an eye on the latest plus size models when you see magazine covers or brands that cater to them and you can do further research on how to reach their agency.
It is also required that you are 5.7 feet or taller if you want to do ramp modeling. However, it would depend on the agency if they have a different set of requirements for their models. Others also hire shorter models so don’t lose hope if the height isn’t in your odds.
Spreading Body Positivity
Being a plus size girl or guy can allow you to speak up against certain society trends. It opens up opportunities for other people that normally, they would feel discouraged doing. Models are role models and now that plus-size is a thing, it’s time for you to encourage other people to love their bodies more! If you become a plus-size model, you have the chance to show others that it’s possible to look good and feel good regardless of their size.

Room For Improvement
Even with the increasing patronage of plus-size ranges from fashion houses, there’s still a lot of improvement that needs to be done. Size 8 to 12 isn’t exactly the representation other plus-size people need. If you’re going to consider the average size for women in America, it’s around size 14 according to a study that was done way back in 2011. As you can see, there’s a big discrepancy in that area. If only fashion houses would continue to extend their sizes for actual plus-sizes!
