After I started modeling, I noticed that many of the models I worked with had amazing hair. I wanted to know how they got such shiny, healthy-looking hair, despite all the processing and damage the modeling industry does to model’s hair. Then, it hit me, and my hunt for the six secrets to shiny, healthy hair began.
After many years of asking models, researching and trials, positive results came at last! Those terrible hair days are long gone. There is no difference between the runway supermodels and me.
Do you have a bad hair day? Well, I bet it is not too late to work on it with these six secrets to shiny, healthy hair.
Getting glossy hair is ‘not a walk in the park’ as many women assume. So, what is my point? Sit back and relax, as this exciting piece carries nothing but all the results you need. Hold your horse, not so fast, though! Allow me to share with you how to get that look you long to wear.
The latest report shows that the trending hair-do is the ‘supermodel hair.’ A straightener combs through the curls, and you flip the ends inward. Why that name? In the 90s, our legendary models, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington wore it. The wavy or ponytail styles are long gone, and ‘supermodel style’ is back.
It will be wrong to say celebs do not have bad hair days. Even supermodel Naomi Campbell has bad (and I mean really bad) hair days!
In 2012, supermodel Naomi Campbell was on holiday in Ibiza and seemed less concern with her hairline. Hair professionals thought traction alopecia was the cause of her hair loss.
When Tyra Banks was writing her book called Modelland in 2011, she turned to food as comfort. Talking to the Wall Street Journal, this was her comment. “Honestly, chilling for me was eating a meal; I couldn’t just look at the ocean. In hindsight, that was not healthy. How can I say this without tearing up? I got a little alopecia from the stress.”
Reasons Hair Gets Dry and Falls Off
- Harsh conditioners and shampoos cause hair damage and breakage. Harsh chemicals with sulfate are the major contributors to this loss. Stay away from these kinds of unfriendly products to your hair.
- Expose your hair to severe direct heat and sunlight when outdoors.
- Taking in non-balanced unhealthy meals will destroy your hair roots. What you eat goes down in repairing damaged hair and giving life back to a robust hairline. Eating an anti-inflammatory, vitamin rich plant-based diet will keep your hair follicles healthy.
- Brush through your hair when it is dry causes it to have end-line splits. Always soften the hair before brushing it by applying oil.
- Dehydration of your hair and body because of lack of water is one fundamental causes of hair dryness. Your scalp has blood vessels that need water to stay healthy.
- Air pollution caused by climate change and global warming is another culprit, so protect and save your environment.
With these few points listed above, you now know why your hair is dry and falling off at an alarming rate. Next, we explore the six secrets to shiny, healthy hair today! Here are six tips to get that sexy look:
Here are Six Secrets to Shiny, Healthy Hair:
1. Reduce blow-drying
Are you worried about the dry heat? Do not be, here is why. Frequently, blow-drying your hair causes weakness, brittle, and dullness to our lovely hair. To most, it is hard to escape the blow-dry procedure. Remember, it is prudent to apply in a leave-in conditioner or treatment before blow-drying.
This pre-wet hair application helps to soften the hair and for easy combing. To me, staying away from frequent dry heat is my style. The use of a dry shampoo (I use organic Amla powder) once a week works well for me than blow-drying my hair. Try it out and see how it will work on you too.
2. Nourish your hair
One of the main factors in getting an excellent glossy hair is to preserve its beautiful texture. How do you do it? The best way is by consuming healthy meals and drinks. Some of these healthy diets include drinking lots of water every day, eating lots of fruit and veggies, and taking algae-based Omega supplements.
Take foods rich in vitamin E like butternut squash, peanuts, sunflower seeds, avocados. Green leafy vegetables as spinach and broccoli also act well in hair growth. In addition to that, a supplement of vitamin E and Omega-3 capsule can be another alternative.
3. Avoid daily shampooing
Do not shampoo your hair daily if you are one of those with dry hair. If you are an indoor person, then it is wise to give your hair some shampoo off-day! Different washing ingredients strip off the natural oil in your hair, resulting in it being dull and brittle. Stay off non-sulfate free shampoos.
How do you prevent dry hair damage and an itchy scalp? You protect it by staying off daily or regular hair shampooing. Do not irritate your hair!
4. Purchase the right hairbrush
Brushing or combing through my hair often has a price to pay. I look smart and beautiful after a classic hair groom, but some of those precious little hairs stick on the brush or comb. I learned quality and suitable brushes have flexible bristles. I love “wet brushes”, which are super soft and bendy.
5. Use cool water
Rinse your hair using lukewarm water, not hot or not freezing. Hot or warm water makes the follicle dry. Hot water will make your scalp sweat and will then result in increased scalp oil production. Shampoo your hair and then condition it the usual way.
Remember to rinse out thoroughly the entire chemical ingredient several times. You do this by repeating to rinse out all the foams of both shampoo and conditioner using lukewarm water until the last rinse water is clear.
6. Use natural beauty therapy
Your goal for healthier hair is to use natural treatment locally available. I find it fun and relaxing to do it myself at home. Use apple cider vinegar and spray a little over your scalp and after a few minutes, rinse it out. Try this home remedy; thrice a week during your free time is ideal.
