Most of my life I’ve worn black because I’ve always heard that it’s slimming. Like me, most of us are afraid of mixing color combinations, worried that it might be a recipe for disaster. We don’t want to be overly colorful and end up looking like a walking flower garden.
But when meeting potential clients, I’ve noticed that I stand out and get booked more when I wear bright colors.
To help my fellow models who are struggling this season for the perfect mix of hues, below are my favorite fashionable (model-approved) color combinations.
Pink and Red
These two colors used to be the worst pair and it might have been a sin to wear it together, even if the contrast looks amazing. You can totally wear these two fresh tandems and you won’t be judged for it! You can use different shades of pink and combine it with red and you can never go wrong. Don’t be afraid to mix and match textures and layer to your heart’s content too! Velvets and corduroys are a thing now and it’s the comfiest thing ever.
Silver and Yellow
There’s something about the color yellow that looks perfect. It reminds me so much of sunshine and it screams of happiness despite your mood that day. If you’re looking for an effortless color without even trying– yellow is the color for you. If you combine it with silver, the contrast tones down a little and you’re left with a very harmonious blend of colors. If you’re feeling a little adventurous, choose metallic or shimmery silver and you’re glammed up almost instantly!
Cobalt Blue and Yellow
The yellow madness doesn’t stop there. You can also pair yellow to cobalt blue without it looking like a University cheerleading uniform. These two are bright colors but it’s an epitome of sophistication. I don’t know why extra bright colors are a trend now, but I’m honestly loving it! I never really thought it was a wearable combination until now. Cobalt blue is such a royal color and it will definitely make you feel like you’re a queen or a princess in the making. Cobalt blue and yellow is a personal fave!
Millenial Pink and Lavender
Millenial pink isn’t going away soon even if lavender is the color of the year. There’s no need to choose between these two pastel colors because it’s the perfect unicorn-like combination for the cute ladies out there.
Pink and Olive Green
If you’re not living for the bright hues and you think they’re too blinding, you can try muted colors like olive green and mix it with pale pink. It still looks fresh and light, but it’s not too overpowering. It can also be flattering for a lot of people, so you don’t really have to overthink about mixing these two.
If you can’t find color combinations that you like in this list, you don’t have to worry. Just like what I said earlier, fresh-looking fashion is all about bright colors. Mix and match however you want and wear your best smile along with your fashionable outfit!
