Cosmopolitan magazine created a stir on their Facebook page by calling this top model “Plus Size”. Let me start off by saying that this girl is gorgeous and has a perfectly hot bikini bod. But tagging her as plus-size? Really? Then I wonder what would people who are actually overweight be called. Super-sized, perhaps?
Will you call Robyn Lawley a plus size model? Seems perfectly normal to me.
Though I’m pretty sure Cosmopolitan didn’t have any bad intention behind calling her “plus size”, it’s crucial that we help the society create a healthy natural image of the female body. We need to be more mindful about what we say and how we see women. I don’t want to sound like a feminist gone crazy but it’s high time that we reinforce a healthy picture of a female figure. Models should be all shapes and sizes — without being tagged “plus size”. And if we can’t have that, then at least we need to change our perception of the word plus-size. For goodness sake, plus-size doesn’t mean fat! All it simply means that they are curvier or larger than the standard runway models.
This is to all the aspiring models: you don’t need fancy hardcore diets or plastic surgery to snag the title of having that perfect figure. All that is simply needed is a proportionate, toned body which can easily be achieved through mindful, healthy lifestyle.
