As a model, marketing yourself over social media is a very important step. Not only does it show your potential as a model, but it can also be your very personal portfolio. We all know how social media nowadays isn’t just about posting random selfies. For others, it bears their creativity in order to give it a personal touch. In Instagram, those who are “#feedgoals” are those who are followed by the majority. Even those who aren’t professional models have already mastered their own brand over different platforms.
With that in mind, even in the photos that you post on social media, you need to look your best. Basically, you have to look good in almost every photo like every moment is a photo shoot. Below are a few things that you need to keep in mind in order to create your perfect shot:
Photo Composition
Just because models are the ones being taken photos of, it doesn’t mean that they shouldn’t learn how to be able to compose their own photo. There would be times that models would be asked how they think they could pull off the shot from their own perspective. For your social media, the freedom is all yours on how you want your photos to be done. Feel free to take inspiration from other people, Pinterest and Instagram itself can be the creative bank of all your photo inspirations!
Props
Since I’m trying to tell you about being extra here, why not add some props to the mix? Whether it’s flowers, sunglasses, jewelry or any staple of clothing that would represent different types of brands that you think you can pull off modeling for, add it to the photo composition. This is for the sole purpose of showing your versatility as a model.
Good Lighting
This doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to purchase your own ring light for the sole purpose of taking a selfie. Honestly, not all photos look good with artificial lighting. Believe it or not, the sun is simply the best source of light that can create a big impact on your photos. Even the Kardashian’s are a fan of the golden hour. For some reason, that hour before the sun is setting makes your skin glisten and glow. I’m not a fan of Kylie, but I don’t think there’s another selfie out there that could justify the magic of the golden hour. There’s just really something about that hour that makes you look like you’re sun-kissed and extra gorgeous! It also makes your highlighting game on point.
Posing
Strut your pose even on selfies. Even on your OOTD’s, showcase your long legs and poses even if it’s just in front of a floor length mirror. Potential clients may be lurking here and there, looking for that model that could fit right into their criteria. Have you ever wondered why a lot of female’s on Instagram have a case of “Expectation VS Reality”? Some of them look so curvy and voluptuous in photos, only to figure out that in real life, they’re not like that at all? That’s because poses can create such a big impact on how you can manipulate your body shape in photos.
