I always get asked what kind of beauty products I use to maintain a skin that’s always photo shoot and runway ready – with or without makeup. As a model, it’s really important that I take great care of my skin, nobody would want to put makeup on me if I have tons of breakouts.
So last fashion week, we asked around and took a peek at what the models use to make their skin rehydrated, breakout free, and always ready for the runway.
1. Aesop’s Mandarin Facial Hydrating Cream.
Moisturize. Moisturize. Moisturize. If there’s one thing that you will always here from us models is that you need to moisturize.
No wonder, this moisturizer from Aesop is a top favorite. It’s light and citrus oil-infused formula makes it easy for the skin to absorb. Make sure your face is cleansed or toned before you apply.
2. L’Occitane’s Shea Butter Lip Balm Stick
We all need one go-to lip balm that will keep our lips moisturized. This does the trick. It’s made of shea butter, which we all know does moisturizing wonders.
3. la Roche-Posay Acne Treatment
The biggest pet peeve we models have is when we get breakouts right before a shoot or a runway show. la Roche-Posay acne treatment is a total lifesaver.
4. Simple Cleansing Micellar Water
After a day of makeup, you shouldn’t be surprised if models go out casually without putting as much. And removing makeup is really difficult, and most models find this cleansing water really useful.
5. Shiseido Revitalizing Face Mask
With a busy schedule, not everyone has the time to get facials. Some models resolve to use face masks and Shiseido is an all time favorite.
6. Vbeaute Gentle Facial Exfoliator
Everybody needs exfoliating every now and then. Typically, if you have a normal skin, you can exfoliate for up to three times a week. If you’ve sensitive skin, two times a week might even be too much.
So choose a great product to match your skin’s needs. Models are no experts, and we’re just advised as well, but Vbeaute’s exfoliator is a must do every week.
7. Trader Joe’s Vitamin E Oil
It’s simple but really makes the skin soft and supple. Apply daily, whenever you want.
8. Carmex Moisturizing Lip Balm
If you need to use a lip balm every ten minutes, you might want to use this product. It’s not expensive, you can get it anywhere, even in drug stores!
9. Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash
Models are not different from everyone. What if I tell you that some of them use Neutrogena oil-free acne wash to clean their faces? You probably wouldn’t believe, but some of then used this as teens and continued until they got to work as models.
It’s not easy to be a model and consistently watch our weight and take really good care of our skin. What’s important is to find products that work well with your skin type. I will definitely not use a product that I’m allergic to just because it works well for someone else.
Here’s a video of designer Marc Jocabos as he talks about his three essential make-up products.
