You must be wondering why I placed a photo of Bruce Jenner instead of Caitlyn Jenner. I, like most of the people that I’ve talked to, think that what Caitlyn Jenner did is something that is inspiring. Isn’t it? What she went through is a heavy feat and I don’t think that everyone can do it.
When I see people cringe upon hearing the words Caitlyn and Jenner in one sentence, I try not to make a face. Instead, I try to tell them, take a look at the photos of Bruce Jenner when he won the country an Olympic medal. Look at that proud American face.
This is exactly what Caitlyn Jenner felt when she went out to the public as a new person. Triumphant.
When athletes win, nobody witnessed how their training were full of sweat and tears. How they were full of discipline and focus. How they told themselves that they can do it, even though there bodies were about to give up. How they woke up every morning wanting to get back to sleep for another hour, but they can’t. Do we really see how much hard work they put into it? No. I, myself, cannot imagine.
I think this is what people don’t see when they can’t fathom Caitlyn Jenner. What they only see is that she wasn’t happy with what she had and she wanted it changed. But did you know how gruesome the surgeries were and how emotionally unstable you become when you undergo these kinds of processes?
We’ve always celebrated uniqueness and identity in the fashion world. And we never shy away from male models who do female work or female models who do male work. It’s something that the modeling industry is gifted with. Let’s share the same love with all kinds of profession. After all, we are all the same human beings.
Here are some photos of Caitlyn Jenner while she was getting ready for her coming out photo shoot in Vanity Fair.
And here is a video of her showing how she prepared for her transition:
It’s a big change and not everyone understands it. But if we understand what people go through to reach certain goals and desires in their lives, we might just be able to find inspiration instead of hate. Make love and not war, right?
Oh, and follow her on Instagram and Twitter to see more of her journey 😀
