The overly, unhealthy slim, that is. A couple of months ago, I shared with you the information about France banning really thin models, and I guess authorities are really following suit.
In this ad by Saint Laurent, featuring Kiki Willems, you can see that she has her bare chest exposed. But what actually makes you stare at the photo isn’t that she’s exposed her breasts. It’s because her rib cage can definitely be seen on the photo.
And it’s also because of this that the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) in the United Kingdom banned the ad. They believe that showing an unhealthily thin model is not apt for public viewing and sends the wrong message across.
The ad is the latest in a long line of controversies surrounding the fashion industry’s use of thin models, among them the death from anorexia of French model Isabelle Caro following a shocking ad campaign and bans on ultra-skinny models in Israel and France.
What do you think? Is Kiki Willems too thin for her own good? Or does Saint Laurent choose really skinny models? Watch this video and tell us what you think.
