Why it’s great:
- Tons of beginner photographers who are willing to take photos of you. (Beware: With photographers, you definitely get what you pay for. If you don’t mind potentially wasting a day for unusable photos, or photos the photographer may never give you, then this could be a great resource).
- You get to post a lot of photos for free.
Why it sucks:
- Most of their members are super amateur, so you have to wade through tons of messages from guys who are (crap) photographers as a hobby (mostly just to meet models – yuk).
- They don’t have any public success stories.
- For some reason, they don’t allow magazines, agents, casting directors or bookers to join. Go figure.
- Owned by a massive corporation that owns hundreds of sites (called Internet Brands), so don’t expect them to care about each and every model that’s registered.
- Most of the site’s traffic is men looking at nude or semi-nude photos (in their bedroom, if you know what I mean).
- Scammers regularly use the site to weasel money out of unsuspecting models.
- There have been a bunch of really scary stories in the news about models going missing when they went to meet up with people they met on Model Mayhem.
