Can you just imagine how powerful of a tool Instagram is? One snapshot can be viewed by millions of people around the world. And while the “models” might be oblivious to this fact, the industry isn’t.
There is a line between professional modeling and Instagram modeling. But the industry knows how powerful social media is and that is why they are also trying to use these to their advantage. You have the models endorsing not only themselves, but the designers and the products that they’re modeling. So it becomes a hitting two birds with one stone thing.

I personally think that social media is indeed a useful tool to getting yourself popular. But if truth be told, popularity has nothing to do with modeling. Sure you have 5 million followers. But if that 5 million doesn’t have any of the designers, clothing wear or professional modeling agents included, then what good would it do?
