How much is a model’s salary? It’s such a common question that’s very hard to answer because it would always depend on what agency you’re in and what type of modeling career you’re pursuing. Personally, I think that if you get too obsessed about how much you’re going to earn in your modeling career, it will only frustrate you. Remember, your first few projects could be free and the payment won’t always be monetary. It would probably help you better if you keep in mind that this is your dream and you’re a step closer to pursuing it with every project. Don’t always obsess on how much you’re going to get! Life isn’t always about money, even though it’s our way of getting by and getting food on our table. But for me, life is all about the experience and not the monetary compensation.
But if you’re still curious, here’s an estimate of what you can possibly earn as a model.
Runway Model – You can earn an estimate of $20,000 per show or an hourly rate of anywhere from $200 and above. Keep in mind that you will also get paid for fittings and rehearsals.
Body Part Model (Hands/Foot) – You will learn less than a runway model but it will be about $100 per hour. The good thing about this job is that it can allow you to take on more work because you won’t be limited by a contract to work for just one product that’s within a similar nature, not unless your face is shown.
Photographic Model – You can earn about $100 per hour or $1,500 per day for catalogues, and $250 per hour or $10,000 per day for advertising agencies.
Child Model – You can earn about $50 and above.
Range Showing Model – The salary you will earn will be based on how many days you work and the amount can become higher than photographic shoots and ramp work.
Lingerie Model – Due to the nature of this modeling, you can earn one and a half to twice the amount of regular modeling fees.
Remember that you can also earn bonuses if the shoot requires traveling, modeling in extreme weather conditions, or in unusual and dangerous places. Overtime rates are also applied if you are on set for a longer period than what is specified on your allowed time period which is usually 12 hours for adults and 3-6 hours for children.
Agencies will get paid a commission from each model’s job. This fee can also vary from agent to agent but most of the time, it’s about 10-20%. Since lingerie modeling has a higher pay, agencies can negotiate a higher fee that can be 25-30% commission.
Just to be clear, this is only the average or estimated rate that a model can earn. It can be more or less depending on how in-demand you are.
Another word of advice is that you also have to know your worth. Know which projects can propel you to the peak of your career and which ones can keep you on top. Be smart when it comes to making your choice.

It could be nice if you’re sexy enough to be a lingerie model. But then I don’t know if my parents would be proud of me if I become one because they’re quite conservative.
I agree that you shouldn’t obsess about getting paid at first. Just enjoy your first few steps in being a model and love what you’re doing. Nobody wants a cranky model who is always obsessed about getting paid rather than doing her best.
Models can make a lot or almost nothing at all it depends on which jobs you get because they don’t have a set job, so being a model isn’t as easy as people think, but if you do manage to get a job from casting you can make quite a lot from one shoot.
Modeling doesn’t provide a regular income, exploits most of the talent, experience lots of rejection, most models are waiting for that one big break that never comes but models do get to travel the world, meet lots of interesting people have lots of fun and just might get that one big break because somebody has to, right??
They may earn a lot when they have worked but they many time suffer through periods of unemployment, they have to attend unpaid auditions and casting sessions, and they also have to travel extensively to different locations for work.
To earn those thousands dollars of salary, must have to tolerate unpredictable work schedules and be ready in an instant to pose for a photographer or strut fashionable clothing on a catwalk.
A model’s life looks glamorous. There are expensive clothes, top hair and makeup artists, long limbs, constant jet-setting, champagne-filled parties and beautiful photoshoots. But the reality can be very different.

I really dont care that much about the money because i know that money can come or go depending on the job, i just want to have a good time. :D!

Being a Instagram model is the safest bet cause u can get a ton of brand deals if u get some clout and these days insta models are charging like 7 to 30 grand per sponsor
My agency took 20%, I’m in California. But when I asked other models at runways I was at they said their agent was only taking 15%! I was baffled, and jealous.
